Minor Musings

Just rambling stuff.

So Christmas is done and over with. Yay! I wish I had more days off, though.

I got..

from Jer: A flat screen monitor (I knew I was getting that back around Turkey Day)
TiVo
5 CDs: Both Depeche Mode singles CDs, the new Sarah McLaughlin, Chevelle "Wonder What's Next", and Staind "Shades of Grey"

from my parents: A soup spoon for my silver set
$150 (I'm rich, I'm rich!)

from Lisa (sibling pollyanna): $15 BB GC

From Jer's Dad: A box of fruit. We got that in the mail a few weeks ago.

From Jer's Mom: An address book with his family's addresses & phone #s. (so he can't say he's lost his g'ma's # again)
A check for $100 for the two of us.

I think we got a check from one of his grandparents, too, but I never saw it.

Mikey made out like a bandit. He got all sorts of toy cars and trucks, clothes, a bike, crayola crayon factory, play-doh, some books for his Leap Pad, Operation, and probably some stuff I don't remember.

I was going to buy my nieces and nephews stuff, but I was tired of shopping, so I just gave them money. I ordered most of Jer's stuff online. I got him the Civ III expansion pack, and LotR - The Two Towers (I got the first one, too, but I'd apparently not noticed or forgotten that he'd gotten it last year, so we'll take it to BB and he'll get something else). I actually went to the store to pick up his reciprocating saw. He was able to guess his other two, since he picked them up after I'd wrapped them, but the saw I left unwrapped, and put it under the tree after he went to bed.

I ordered my dad's 007 DVD boxset online, and I had to go out to get earrings for my mom. That was a PITA. I stood waiting to be helped at the kiosk for about 20 minutes.

And that's it for Christmas. Whew.

Oh, our tree is just about bare now. The cats have done a good job of knocking all of the ornaments off.
I guess we'll have to redecorate it so we can get a picture of mikey in front of it.

So I'm still tired and pregnant. The jeans I wore on Sunday, after being washed that night, didn't fit on Wednesday. That wasn't very nice of them. We had to stop at the mall (on xmas eve!) to get me new jeans. I tried a pair of maternity jeans on, but they just didn't fit right. I opted for a normal pair of jeans with elastic sides. I hope they still fit after going through the wash this weekend.

I have another u/s on Jan 7th. Hopefully I'll find out what this kid is going to be. Then we can pick out names.

I'm going back to cross-stitching now. :)

It's snowing. It's been snowing since about 3am.

Well, anyway, last night after I went out for dinner, I parked my car in the garage. There was no way in hell that I was going to be scraping crap off of my car at 11pm, especially since Jer had BOTH snow brushes in his car.

So I drive home. Woooheee. The roads were mostly just wet. We're in the area that keeps shifting from snow to rain. No biggie, I don't mind driving in it, what I do mind are the idjits out there who shouldn't be.

There was something odd going on next door when I got home. There were two cop cars waiting out front. Odd, definately odd. And Mikey was awake, too. So I played my game for an hour, and then I went upstairs with Jer. Things were starting to happen next door, so we watched from Mikey's window. Jer thought the white van that had pulled up was a paddy wagon, but it only had local government tags and a yellow light. I saw the cages inside, and noted that it was for animals. Jer thought it was for drug sniffing dogs.

Not quite.

So the cops are wandering around outside, we're watching, and NDN's bedroom light flicks on. After a bit, NDN and one of her kids come outside, she goes into the little enclosed porch area, and then comes back.

It turns out, they were taking her dog. She's only had the dog for about 2 weeks, but he says it's a pitt bull. I'm not one for recognizing dog breeds, but the dog that usually sits outside her kitchen door sits quietly, and is, from outward appearances and behavour, quite docile. The dog doesn't even bark at Holly when she comes outside and barks at her.

So animal control went in the house, looped the dog, and put her in the van. Everyone drives off. And we're curious and confused.

But back to the snow. After Jer went to bed, I went back down to play FFX-2. I played until about 330. I was aiming for 3, but I had the bloody lure bracer on, and I couldn't go more than a few steps without getting into a battle. Since the whole point of using the bracer was to collect AP points, I stuck with it until I got through the 3rd screen to the save point. Oooh boy. I checked outside, and the snow had just started to stick.

At 830, Jer wakes me up. Gee, it's been snowing. And surprise of all, we weren't plowed. He wanted to know where the camera was. Um, you were the last one with it! I could have stayed asleep.... Kinda like yesterday when he thought he'd locked himself out of the house. Ringing the doorbell, banging on the door...And guess what? The door was unlocked. He hadn't even bothered to try.

So anyway, Mikey was sort of awake, but there was no way Jer was getting him to daycare anytime soon, so he told him to go back to sleep. I'm curled back under my blanket and I hear, "Mommy! It's snowing!" Yeah, I know, Mike. He went downstairs to watch TV. I guess the excitement of snow was too much to go back to sleep on.

Speaking of sleep, I was having trouble getting back into that state. I was hungry. Who can sleep on a hungry stomach? So I had a bowl of cereal. I also called work. They weren't as impressed with the pictures of the snow as they were that I was awake before 9am. Ah well. Stomach sated, I crawled back into bed. Jer was somewhere outside digging out our cars...

At noon, we still hadn't been plowed, so I was anticipating just staying home. Jer decided to get pizza, and he took my car across the street. After watching him drive effortlessly through the snowy street, I got dressed. This is the first snow fall my Prius has seen, you know.

The rest of the day well...Get to work, work, it's still snowing. Work, eat dinner, I think it's still snowing now. Or it could be raining. I don't know, I don't sit within viewing of a window anymore.

But if I thought getting to work tonight was bad, it looks like tomorrow will be worse.

On other topics, the baby likes to kick. A lot, but not my innards. (yay)
I still can't eat meat, so I've been getting tuna subs from Subway. I even have trouble with pepperoni and sausage on pizza.
Oh, and I have a head cold.

That's it.
