My arm hurts. The draw spot is a nice blue and purple color. When the nurse stuck the needle in and told me to open and close my hand, she wasn't getting much, I thought "no shit! any farther out and you'd be trying to draw from my elbow." It hurt, a lot.
Basically, yesterday went as follows:
I got up early 'cause I had my 32 week appointment. For the 3rd
appointment in a row, my BP was high, so onto my left side I went.
My doc took my BP laying down and it was ok, she took it sitting up, and it
was highish, again, and she couldn't get the lower number. She'd lose it
around 100, so she finally said it was between 90-100. She didn't like my BP being 120 over 100ish.
And promptly sent me over to L&D to be hooked up to their monitors and for
bloodwork to be done. She wanted to rule out that I was developing Toxemia
and to determine if I was to be put on bedrest. Ironically, I'd handed the paperwork to her receptionist for my short term disability when I walked in. There's a section on "patient cannot work at this time". I saw her eyeing it.
Anyway, parking was a PITA. The entrance for L&D wasn't how I remembered it. It's been 5 years, I'm looking ofr all those familiar landmarks... There was no parking by the door, so I went up the hill to the garage. And drove up...and up...and up...and up...and down...and down...and hey! Someone just left! Jackpot!
I would like to mention that when you first go up, you turn left. The next ramp, you're apparently supposed to turn right. I went left. Who the !@#$ would design a parking garage that would change directions rather than picking a standard and keeping with it?!
Anyway, through the construction area and all the way down to admitting for L&D. L&D was busy, so I got to wait an hour. I thought that would shoot my BP up, but it didn't, after I got changed and was laying down, my BP was
100something over 70something. The rest of the readings were 90something over 60something. Freaky body.
I was then the victim of a painful blood draw. She drew it a little too close to the muscle, and now it's all bruised and hurts like !@#$.
My bloodwork came back OK. No Toxemia for me. At this point, after being asked several times, I know what the symptoms are.
I'm not on bedrest, but my next appt is in a week, rather than 2.
DH and I have decided that we're going to sit down and plan out my meals. If it'll help, I'm going to cut back on sodium. I do have a family history of High BP.
