Minor Musings

Just rambling stuff.

I finished my SDU classes this past Saturday! The 2nd 5 classes are much more entertaining than the first 5! We got to crop and glue and stuff. Some of us would finish one project and open the next (some would even start to work on it!). Robin started giving us a hard time about moving ahead to the next project before the current project was deemed "completed". Overall, it was a pretty cool class. I didn't get to shop afterwards 'cause I had to go to work. DR....Bah.

It's apparently the company's 33rd birthday. So upper management has decided that we're doing....Spirit Week!

Uh...I graduated from high school 10 years ago, thank you. It's gonna be "wild and wacky", too.

I don't think I'm going to win any "most spirity employee" prizes. I'm just gonna come as my usual pregger self.

At least we get free cake!

Thank the gods that the snow is done and over with! It started snowing Friday night. That made for a nice trip home. Saturday morning it was flurrying, but I went to class anyway. The roads were overall pretty good.

Then, Sunday, it was supposed to start snowing around noon. Well, I was gone all day at class, and then since I had to go to the DR test afterwards, I didn't get home until almost 11pm. No time to do grocery shopping. I woke up at 1ish on Sunday and it wasn't snowing yet. The radar looked like we had a couple of hours, so I got dressed and we set off to the store. Only problem...Mikey fell asleep on the way, and then the stores were crammed. So we drove around for a bit, and then went to target. Some of the stuff on the grocery list could be bought there.

It still wasn't snowing when we finished there, so we headed to Applebee's for dinner.

Still wasn't snowing.

It didn't start snowing until after 11pm. *rolls eyes*

Anyway, I did have to venture into work on Monday. Who am I kidding, I always have to venture into work. We're critical staff! JHU closed the school, so Jer stayed home. He got to dig out my car for me. ;)

But since then, the weather's been a pita. It kept spitting on us for about 24 hours. Nice and icy. Yesterday my wipers started to freeze on me on my way in. Snows not that bad, but I hate ice.

Today I saw....Sunshine! wow.

Hopefully tonight I'll stay off of Civ III long enough to settle on the couch and do some cross-stitching. I've been awfully addicted lately.

Have I mentioned that my hips hurt? I waddle when I walk. And I feel like I need a lift in order to roll over in bed. Sometimes I feel like I've been horseback riding a little too much.

Sunday is the superbowl. Know where I'm going to be? I'm making a list of stuff I need to buy and taking it to The Stitching Post. They're having their annual 15% off your purchase sale. If I still have time, I'm going up to the Scrappin' Stop and buying some scrappy stuff. Jer'll be downstairs watching the 'bowl in the den. Kiddo will most likely be upstairs in our bedroom watching cartoons. What the heck am I supposed to do while the superbowl is on?

Maybe I'll go to Target and look for baby stuff.

Or maybe I'll set kiddo up on the laptop and let him watch Finding Nemo.

Or I could just put on a set of headphones and play computer games.

Ugh. I hate football.

Doc Appt update: Blood pressure still a little high. That's the 2nd appointment I've had where I've spent 20 minutes laying on my left side.

I -somehow- managed to gain 7 pounds since my appointment on the 7th. I certainly hope that a lot of it was water retention and because I was wearing jeans!

Everything else is just peachy-keen. We're working on girlie names.

Next appointment....Feb 3rd.

Cats 4. Mice 0.

What a lovely thing to wake up to. I'd just gotten dressed and was heading downstairs when I found Shadow on the landing, playing with....a dead mouse.

So that's #4. It was quite dead. I must've been out like a light, 'cause usually they wake me up when they're chasing around.

Why bother to get mouse traps when you have 10 cats? Let 'em earn their keep!

I suppose I should mention that Jer woke me up at 8 this morning to tell me that kiddo has pink eye in both eyes. Joy.

Cigna hasn't sent the new health cards yet, so we can't really send him to the doctor. Despite being able to call and confirm (our insurance hasn't changed from 2003), most doc offices are too lazy to do it. That's why I have an untreated sinus infection. I -know- Patient First won't see me without the 2004 card.

I tried to get Jer to call kiddo's new ped and see if they'd see him anyway, but he too was too lazy to call. Um...We need to meet this new ped eventually. Why not go for something that needs to be done, rather than a silly "well-visit". We have to name the baby's ped soon, too, so if this office doesn't work out, then I want the time to find a good one. [NB: we left kiddo's original ped 'cause the office staff is so bloody impersonal we're just another number. They're friendly with other patients, just not us. *thbpppth!* Besides, ever drive the inner loop to Towson in the afternoon? It's not fun.]

So then he decides that he'll just keep kiddo home, rather than sending him to DC, as we don't know if the pink eyes are bacterial or viral. (Well, duh, that's why we should take him to the doc!) So he asks me if I'm going to stay awake so he can go into work for the morning.

Um...I went to bed less than 4 hours ago. There's no way in hell I'm staying up.

So I went back to sleep.

And Jer stayed home. He got to clean gook off of kiddo's eyes several times today.

*rolls eyes*

Today was my 28 week checkup along with an ultrasound. I managed to convince Jer to take the morning off from work and come with me. That way he could find out what the baby was without me having to call him afterwards. Or him calling me, which was what he did the last time I had an u/s. I was on the beltway and my phone started ringing....

And it's a.....

girl!

And I've gained one more pound. That gives me a total of 3! Not too shabby.

Having a girl makes an odd coincidence. Both of my brothers who have reproduced have one of each. We were wondering if we were going to follow suit or go our own way. I wouldn't have been surprised, as Jer is 1 of 4 boys. So on the cousin front, it's evenly divided. Odd.

So it's the new year. Big whoop. I don't do resolutions 'cause I never keep them. I did manage to leave work 20 minutes early, so I got home before midnight. Surprise suprise, Mikey was awake, so I brought him downstairs with me so he could watch the ball drop.

On the 3rd, I took the first half of my Scrapbooking Design University classes. Some of them were boring as hell. But apparently you have to take the basic stuff in order to get to the more interesting stuff. My second batch of classes are on the 24th. (I get to miss a DR!) After class I went shopping for scrappy stuff! Had to spend the rest of my christmas money. Afterwards I went home and went back to sleep. It sucks getting up at 9am on a Saturday, but it looks like I'm doing that on the 10th, too. I need to get my glucose test done.

Getting to take the master SDU classes will be interesting. The class calendar is done for Feb and March, so it'll have to be April. A lot of the class want it done the first Saturday in April. I'm due 5 days before. Wonder if the kid'll come late.....*ponder* Having taken the classes makes me really want to do some scrapbooking, but I have no space. :( I also don't like to scrap alone. Odd, isn't it? I've never scrapped anywhere except at a party of some sort. I did sign up for a bunch of other classes that weren't SDU. Hopefully they won't be cancelled due to not enough students. Not too many people sign up for weekdays 10am-noon. I bet the evening classes are full, though.

Despite already being there and having done that, I don't remember what all I should have on hand to take to the hospital and also to have at home when we bring the baby home. I know I'll definately take whatever I'm currently stitching on with me!

TiVo is a wonderful thing.

PS: I like changing the date on my posts. It's actually the 9th. :)
