Minor Musings

Just rambling stuff.

I'm too tired. *thud*

This weird schedule is really starting to hurt. I'm staying awake right now by sheer force of will.

NE Dec 98 Gathering

So things go. On Tuesday we met up with some Dec 98 moms and went to Sesame Place. I have not been there for about 20 years, so it was interesting to see how much the place has changed. I remember very little, but..

The Whisper Wall was still there. Yay!
The water maze was still there.

In the film studio, you used to be able to create your own cartoon, put it in a spinny thing, and watch your cartoon unfold. No more! There also used to be a room where if you leaned up against a wall, there was a light that flashed, and there would be your silhouette on the wall. That is now a coloring room where you can color on the walls. I hope Mikey didn't get any bright ideas.

It was rainy, so there weren't that many people there. Jer forgot his trunks, so he had to wait until a shop opened so he could buy one. For the first 2 hours, all I heard was "can I go in the water?" After exhausting the dry rides, I put on my suit and Mikey and I headed for his choice of water slides (there were 3). He chose the long twisty windy one on a raft! My favorite! not! I've been scared to death of those ever since some bright moron at Hershey Park got the bright idea to put me and 2 of my brothers on the same raft.

Can you say lack of weight distribution? I sure can!
Want to know what happens? You go HIGH up on the sides. Luckily I avoided that this time by leaning back as far as I could.

So now he's scared to death of that one and doesn't want to go down it again. Fine by me! He wants to go down the normal straight water slide. Ok! Jer wanders off to get trunks, since the shops are starting to open. Except he leaves with my shoes and towel. I figured I was in for a good 15 minutes of sliding, so I didn't worry about it. We got to the slides, and we have to go down seperate slides. Getting ready to get in I hear..."Mommy, I have to go pee!"

Ok! Off to the bathrooms we go. Nevermind the fact that we'd been over there 10 minutes earlier. Walking on the horrible cement embedded with stones in bare feet. Convincing Mikey to go in the girls bathroom instead of the mens...

What do we do now? Wander around 'cause now he doesn't want to go down that slide, or any water ride. He got into the duckie pond area and decided to come right back out. My feet hurt. There's no sign of Jerry... I finally convinced him to sit down. I watch Jer walk up, stop short of where we're sitting, and turn around. I had to convince myself to move to a different bench...

Anyway, that was it for the water rides. And I think it was time for lunch, so we go buy an overpriced lunch. Afterwards we decide to ditch the parade and hang out. For some reason, I can't get this kid to get his picture taken with any of the fuzzy people. Big Bird was on his break, so Cookie Monster was there. I got him to give CM a hug, but Jer wasn't paying attention, so no pic was snapped by us, and the photo girl got a great fuzzy picture. No way we were paying their price for a not-so-good photo! No amount of bribery could get him to go sit with CM or Elmo...

It starts to rain so we head for Mr Hooper's Emporium. And it's a thunderstorm, so all rides are shut down. Afterwards, Bert and Ernie are outside, and Mikey wants his picture, so we go to do that... And the kid hides behind me when it's his turn. So I get a picture of Bert and Ernie together and get a hug myself from each!

After that we go in search of a funnel cake. And it starts to rain harder again, so we hide under an awning to eat the funnel cake. At that point, we decide to follow the masses leaving the park. It was starting to thunder again. We wait for Jer to get our rainy day passes at the front gate and rush to the car. We got there just in time...it started to pour!

We hung out at the hotel for a bit with the other families. We'd checked out that morning, so we stayed in the lobby for a bit...watching the rain. We did move into the breakfast room later for our pizza party.

All pizzaed out, we headed for home. Hit a thunderstorm and wound up driving through the rain the whole way home. I slept a good portion of it, but whenever I woke, it was raining.

Evanesance

Sunday (the 25th) was our 6th Wedding anniversary. We've never gone out for any anniv. prior to this, nor did we have a honeymoon. What we did was on Saturday, Jer's dad and Sharon picked the kids up. Then I got up later and we headed to Merriweather to see Evanesance, Seether, 3 Days Grace, & Breaking Benjamin. Horray!

Afterwards we were lame. We went home and put a Dunes party together. Sunday we went down to Jer's Dad's for a BBQ and picked the kids up.

Audrey

Her 4 month visit was on the 16th. She's growing fine, albeit in the 10th percentile. She's only 11#s, so no wonder she still fits in those 0-3 month clothes. I've been cycling her 3-6 month clothes in since they fit, and I don't want summer to end w/o her being able to wear some of these summery clothes.

Speaking of Summer...

What summer? I'm not even sure if it's gotten up over 100 degrees this year. Everytime it gets into the 90s, we get a cold front to come back and drop things down into the 80s. It is, however, muggy, thanks to all the rain we keep getting.

Not that I mind, but I keep shivering when I think of winter...
